Marina Gadonneix - Phénomènes
The “Phenomènes” series, started in 2014 during a residency at CNES, captures places of scientific research on natural phenomena. Marina Gadonneix explores avalanches, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, but also collisions of black holes and Martian landscapes, staged in the laboratory. Playing on the scale between reality and simulation, the artist questions the making of representations, mixing document and fiction, simulation and illusion, in an aesthetic between landscape and scientific photography. Inspired by a photo by Kristan Birkeland recreating the Northern Lights, she explores laboratories as theaters of the universe and places for exploring phenomena.
